Getting There

On the A2, 7 miles West of Limavady.  Park in Ballykelly village, East of the Forest.

Trail Description

Small forest, with network of Forest tracks, and some singletrack, as follows:

Start on the East side, and just after the 3 buildings South of the road, you can pick up the singletrack.

Make your way along this to the forest trails, and then to the Western spike of the forest trails (the left hand bit of a W as you look at the map), where there is more singletrack.

Continue south to the perimeter and turn to the East and follow the perimeter back to the road.

Further singletrack loop on the North side of the forest, to the West side. Pick it up at the main fork junction on the forest trails, or at the end of the forest trail on the very West side of the Forest.

  • This is a great trail for a few reasons...

    1. Well kept for MTB'ers (Hats off to who ever does this)
    2. Close to Derry, easy access every weekend for a 2hrs session.
    3. Fast XC Single Track with a few jumps n bumps thrown in.
    4. If you ride both sides 2/3 times you get a good work out.

  • This course is top class, fast, technical, tough and well set up. You can get a fast 35 - 40 min route (lap) in. Do this 3 - 4 times and you get a great day riding in. cheers to the lads who upgraded this course.
  • This course has been totally upgraded and is unbelieveably technical and tough.
Total singletrack with about 1% of forest track.
Its on the lower side as you drive through Ballykelly.
    It is superb.
an XC/FS would be my recommendation to get the best out of this course because it just cries out to be rid hard nad fast.
  • Trail is okay. Flat and you have to pedal like mad, but short and sweet, kinda fun for a quick blast, not long enough to amuse me for more than an hour or 2.
  • Decent quality singletrack which is relatively easy to find but it's a pity there's not more of it! Enjoyed the outer loop on the higher part of the forest better. Part of the excitement is not knowing whether the bridge you're about to hit will remain in tact! Enjoyable for a short ride if you're in the vicinity but not worth driving to if you're not local
  • Decent enough trail. I prefer the higher (South) part of the forest, it's less mucky and has better terrain. You can be round the top one in less than 10 mins so it's good for a short ride to get a breath of fresh air.
  • this is a really good forest for xc riders. has loads of singletrack that isn't too hard to find. has everything from steep descents, fast flowing singletrack, bridge crossings(some are a bit dodgy),technical climbs and plenty of roots! would recommend a peek at the map at the picnic area for an idea of where to go!
  • Good place for a short spin- fast and nice singletrack - not too technical and again a good place for the kids. Bridges a bit dodgy in places so watch the younger or older ones here.
  • Some nice singletrack, rooty stuff mostly, better when the bridges haven't been demolished! Map in the car park on one side of the road has some tips for the route.
