Glenariff Forest Park
NorthEast Antrim. On the A43 from Ballymena.
Some very steep climbs on forest paths, and a superb ridge to ride, but riding downhill here is FAR TOO DANGEROUS for you and the families using the forest.

Park outside the forest in the lay-by beside top park entrance on the A43.
Tough climbs are balanced by fantastic great views off the top. Some slow tricky technical riding is possible down along the riverside itself, with steps, bridges and slippery boardwalks (Northshore for walkers!). Further riding available in Parkmore Forest to the North.
WARNING: Glenariff is very popular with families, and therefore should not be ridden when encountering other forest users is likely, especially on the popular side. In the past, some idiots have ridden this far too quickly and dangerously, meaning that biking is seriously frowned upon here more than probably anywhere else in NI, and so you will be chased if seen.
Meeting someone on a trail (e.g. a family of 5 with push-chair) unexpectedly is likely to result in serious injury for you or the folks you meet if you don't keep it slow. Plan to exit the forest by 8am, or get the lights out and go riding after dark. Ride well within your limit and don't take corners blind. Go there for the uphill fun, the fitness and the views, NOT the downhill fun.
